After years of consultation and planning and with the return of Colégio de São José to the Diocese of Dili, the Society of Jesus has decided to establish an educational institute in Timor Leste. 
Jesuit colleges and universities in Asia Pacific have committed to becoming green campuses. Fr Joel Tabora SJ, Chair of theAssociation of Jesuit Colleges and Universities in Asia Pacific (AJCU-AP), elaborates on the commitment, which was made at the AJCU-AP annual meeting in Tokyo from August 23 to 24, 2011. 
A forum entitled Theological Views on Religions and Cultures by jointly held by Ateneo de Manila University’s Loyola School of Theology and Heythrop College’s Centre for Christianity and Interreligious Dialogue in Manila from July 21 to 23, 2011. Br. Bernard Falzon mssp provides an account of the three-day event. 
Ateneo de Davao University (ADDU) has approved the establishment of the ADDU Al Qalam Institute: An Institute for Islamic Identities and Dialogue. The decision was taken on the occasion of the national celebration of Eid ul-Fitir, the end of Ramadan. 
In the spirit of inter-religious dialogue, a recent symposium for Jesuit scholars of Buddhism began with an Aarti or ‘lamp lighting’ ceremony. Each delegate came forward and lit a lamp to symbolize the enkindling of knowledge and love within the hearts of one and all. 
Scholastic Dino Sarmento SJ looks back on his two years of regency in Railaco, Timor Leste and shares some important, beautiful and truly treasured moments. Dino is now studying theology at the Melbourne College of Divinity in Australia. 
The Society of Jesus often aptly celebrates Ignatius Loyola’s feast day with Eucharist, dinners or cultural shows. The annual event is aimed primarily at building community and friendship among Jesuit formands from various countries in the Asia Pacific and African Conferences. 
Braving the rain and Manila’s congested streets, more than 11,000 young Filipinos assembled at Ateneo de Manila University for the World Youth Day (WYD) Manila to Madrid Overnight Vigil on August 20 and 21, 2011. Most of them came from Catholic schools, parishes and organisations, and for many, this was their first WYD event.
